In FSX and P3D my first tuning in helis was to add a radar altimeter to the panel.cfg. It makes landing out of airfields more comfortable. Also it make landable surfaces of ship decks or buildings recognizeable.
It must not be a full sized analog clock, a small digital display, perhaps above the magneto switch, is already enough.
